On December 3rd, 4th, and 5th, Fr. Igumen Sergius visited St. Matthew's Parish in Greenbay, Wisconsin giving a Nativity Retreat to the faithful of the Parish and the surrounding Orthodox Communities. The Monastery expresses its gratitude and love to Fr. John, his family and the Parish Community of St. Matthew's who made the retreat a great success!

New St. Nikolai Book Released! - 10/01/10

During the fall, St. Tikhon's Press will release two new St. Nikolai books: the first is a re-print of the coveted "The Universe as Signs and Symbols" which is now available. Click here to order. The second is a Biography of St. Nikolai translated from Serbian by Sister Mihaila which will be available at the end of October or the beginning of November. St. Nikolai was the beloved rector of St. Tikhon's Seminary in the early and mid 1950's and is a powerful presence at the Monastery through his relics, icons, writings, personal belongings and memories. Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos - 09/08/10
Recently, on September 8th, His Beatitude Metropolitan Jonah, His Eminence Archbishop Seraphim, His Grace Bishop Tikhon, His Grace Bishop Melchisedek, Fr. Igumen Sergius, and the Monastery and Seminary community celebrated the Feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos beginning the new academic year.

Fr. Michael, Bishop Elect of NY/NJ, Tonsured
The Dean of our Seminary, Fr. Michael Dahulich, Bishop Elect of New York and New Jersey, was tonsured Raissaphore-monk on October 23, 2009.
Monastery Pets
We recently acquired a new novice, Abby, our new puppy.
New Coffee Shop
Our Coffee Shop had its grand opening in May, 2009. We had our first of many community concerts on November 13th at 7:30 p.m.when 4 professional pianist from our community gave startling performances of Chopin, Debussy, Rachmaninov, and Jazz Improv. We continue to offer these concerts throughout the year. All concert are free and open to the general public.
St. Tikhon\'s Starts Making its own Wine
In September, the monks of St. Tikhon's recently began making wine for Monastery Trapeza use. Hopefully in the future, we will be able to acquire a permit and licensing for producing St. Tikhon's Monastery Altar wine. We bottled this new wine in December and are currently using it for our trapeza with the hope that our Altar wine will be started in the late winter/early spring.
New Candle Factory
In September of 2009, St. Tikhon's opened its own candles factory. We hand-dip the finest 100% beeswax to make candles for use in the Church's and for personal devotion. Candles are $8.00 a pound and are made by the monks of St. Tikhon's Monastery. All profits go to monthly monastery expenses. Thank you for your support! Click here for an order form.
Mission Choir Trip to the South Summer 2009
By the mercy of God and through the donations of Fr. Dn. Michael and Mat. Arlene Pasonick, along with several other of our parishioners, we were able to renovate our Monastery Trapeza Dining Hall. The renovations included new windows, new doors, new floor, new tables and chairs, and repainted and tiled bathrooms. Special thanks to all of our parishioners who donated money for new windows and especially to Fr. Dn. Michael and Mat. Arlene Pasonick who have been so generous and kind to the Monastery and Seminary for so many years. Also, we give thanks to Corinne Dovekas who purchased new tables and chairs for the Monastery Trapeza Dining Hall. May God remember you all in His Kingdom for remembering us!

On the Sunday of the Veneration of the Life-Giving Cross, the Abbot of St. Tikhon's Monastery visited Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Lorain, Ohio and St. Theodosius' Cathedral in Cleveland, Ohio. The Monastery was blessed by the kindness of the faithful who came to see and pray before the Icon of our Lady "Who is Quick to Hear." In two weeks, the Icon and Abbot from St. Tikhon's will be at St. Herman's Parish in Gradyville, Pennsylvania. As God and time permits, we look forward to one more visitation to another part of the country before the year is finished.

Historic Visit to Mayfield
Recently on March 3rd, 2010, the Abbot of St. Tikhon's Monastery, Fr. Igumen Sergius, was invited to serve with Metropolitan Hilarion in Mayfield for the Liturgy of the Pre-Sanctified Gifts. It was the first time in almost 30 years that the head of the St. Tikhon's Monastery has visited the Mayfield Parish.
Special thanks to all those who helped with the installation of the 16th Abbot of St. Tikhon's Monastery. The event was historical, beautiful, and blessed. Pray for us as we begin a new chapter in the life of America's Oldest Orthodox Monastery. More pictures will be posted soon.

Monastery Response to STIC Report
Monastery Wonderworking Icon Visits Gradyville, PA
On Saturday March 21st and Sunday March 22nd, the Wonderworking Monastery Icon "She Who is Quick to Hear" visited St. Herman's in Gradyville, PA, for a Saturday night Vespers, a Sunday morning Hierarchical Liturgy, an Akathist, and a Mission Vespers attended by a multitude of faithful and about 15 local Orthodox Clergy. Our Lady was venerated by hundreds of faithful from the area and was accompanied for the first time by other Monastery treasures such as St. Tikhon's Mantia and Panagia, St. Nicholai of Zicha's relics and Vestments and also St. Innocent of Alaska's Gospel Book.
Historic Visit
On Tuesday, March 2nd, a historic visit took place of Metropolitan Hilarion, Bishop Jerome of Manhattan, Bishop George of Mayfield, and a delegation of over 75 clergy from the Russian Church Abroad to St. Tikhon's Monastery. His Eminence was greeted by the Abbot, Fr. Sergius, at 9:00 a.m. and the Hierarchs and clergy were given a tour of the Monastery, Icon Repository, and Museum. The delegation then had a luncheon which was also attended by Bishop Tikhon, Bishop Melchizedek, and 35 clergy from the Dioceses of Eastern Pennsylvania. This event had tremendous significance in so many ways and hence was a joy for the Brotherhood and community which can only be epitomized by the Palm Sunday Hymn: "Today, the Holy Spirit has gathered us together, and taking up Thy Cross we sing: Hosanna in the highest! Blessed is He that comes in the Name of the Lord!" A very special thanks to the Mayfield Parish of St. John the Baptist for providing and serving a beautiful lunch.
Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos
On Sunday, August 15th, His Grace, Bishop Tikhon, Father Igumen Sergius and the Brotherhood and community of the Monastery celebrated the joyous feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary.
Food Pantry
Our new food pantry is now open to the general public. If you are in need or know someone who is, the food pantry is open on Sundays from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 a.m. During the week, contact or stop by the bookstore for the food pantry to be opened. If you would like to donate to the food pantry, please bring non-perishable goods to the bookstore during business hours or make a note on your donations "Food Pantry."
Fr. Archimandrite Jerome Falls Asleep
After three years in the nursing home, Fr. Jerome (Newville) who taught here at the Seminary and was a extended member of the Monastery Community fell asleep in the Lord last Saturday, August 21st. Kursk Root Icon Visitation for St. Tikhon\'s Day
Our Patronal Feast day for St. Tikhon of Zadonsk was blessed and we appreciate all those who came to celebrate with us. Special thanks to Metropolitan Hilarion for his blessing to have the Kursk Root Icon come to St. Tikhon's and to Archpriest Serge Lukianov for bringing the Icon of the Kursk Mother of God making the feast this year very special.
New Monastery Garden
We have planted a garden and built a waterfall in our courtyard area fenced about with wood from our own trees containing vegetables, flowers, plants and fruit trees thanks to your continued support.
St. Tikhon\'s Monastery Visits Denver Area
Abbot Sergius and the Novice Basil were welcomed to the Denver area with countless treasures from the Monastery Repository from June 4th-6th. The Monastery extends its thanks and best wishes to all those who hosted and provided hospitality. May God reward and remember you all.
Visitation of the Iveron Mother of God
The Monastery was grateful to receive the myrrh-streaming Iveron Icon of the Mother of God from Hawaii brought to us with the blessing of his Eminence, Archbishop Kyrill, by the Reader Nectary. A multitude of faithful were present for the Memorial Day weekend pilgrimage and were blessed to venerate the icon and be anointed with holy myrrh. We especially thank all those who helped with the pilgrimage, donated their time, talents, and resources to make the 106th annual Memorial day pilgrimage a great success. May God reward you all and remember you in His Kingdom.

We have finally moved into our new house! Fr. Sergius Celebrates St. Sergius Day
On October 7th, Fr. Igumen Sergius celebrated Liturgy at St. George's Church in Howell New Jersey with the rector, Fr. Serge Lukianov for Old Calendar St. Sergius' Day. The beautiful Liturgy, Choir, and sermon can be accessed here.
