Orthodox Christians and their spouses (even if not Orthodox Christian) are eligible for burial in St. Tikhon’s Monastery Cemetery. Even if you live outside of Pennsylvania you can still purchase plots for burial. A single plot costs $2500. Additionally, there is a $2500 expense to open and close the plot (this is paid at the time of burial).

A tombstone may be purchased from any monument company. There are many reputable monument companies in our area if you choose to make your purchase locally. When a tombstone is ready to be installed, the monument company will contact us to arrange for placement at the grave. Although it is not always feasible (nor required), many families choose to have tombstones installed on their cemetery plots well before the repose of their loved ones.

The cemetery was established in the 19th century before the monastery was founded, and has grown under the monastery’s care. Among those buried here are Metropolitans Platon and Leonty, Protopresbyter Alexander Schmemann, Prince and Princess Serge Trubetskoy, and Archbishop Arseny (the founder of St. Tikhon’s Monastery and Seminary). The older section of the cemetery is located next to the monastery church, and the newer section is across the road to the east.
