Patriarch Kirill of Russia hosted a monastic conference the week of September 19 which according to Archimandrite Sergius "focused on the Abbots/Abbesses role in the monastery." While the majority of those attending were from Russia itself, monastics came from the US, Syria, Romania, Bulgaria and other countries around the world.
Archimandrite Sergius stated that the purpose of the conference was to bring "Abbots and Abbesses together for instruction and mutual edification. A convocation for learning and prayer."
In addition to participating in the conference and liturgical prayer and services, Archimandrite Sergius served Divine Liturgy at St. Catherines on Sunday and was able to visit a variety of religious sites near Moscow.
