New date set for mid-August
From Archimandrite Sergius:
The 116th annual Memorial Day Pilgrimage at St. Tikhon’s Monastery must be postponed this year due to the COVID-19 quarantine in Pennsylvania and throughout the country and world. We lament this unprecedented hiatus in an unbroken and cherished tradition of our holy monastery and of the Orthodox Church in America. It is nevertheless our intention to mark the days of pilgrimage in some manner, such as the serving of a memorial service, that could be live-streamed.
In addition, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, Archimandrite Sergius and the monastery brotherhood hope to invite everyone to participate in a rescheduled pilgrimage (should conditions allow) in mid-August, opening on Wednesday evening, August 12th with the Vigil for the feast of our monastery patron, St. Tikhon of Zadonsk, and concluding on Saturday afternoon, August 15th, following the festal Liturgy for the feast of the Dormition of the most holy Mother of God.
Further details will be forthcoming as plans are made. Meanwhile the monastery continues in its daily “work of God,” praying for the Church and the whole world during these trying days. We are grateful for the continued support and prayers of the faithful, especially in the coming months as we prepare for and ask God’s blessing upon this rescheduled pilgrimage in August.
