From Talia Sheehan...

Our first weekend retreat (Sept 23-25) will be on Vocal Technique, and specifically what's needed for sustainable and beautiful church singing. It will be led by the incomparable (ahem, Grammy® award-winning!) vocalist Tynan Davis. (Listen to her stunning solo performance in Aaron Copeland’s choral setting of Genesis 1!)

The weekend will begin on Friday evening from 7-9pm with some exploration of the use of resonance and pitch in expressive communication (in both singing AND reading aloud), a presentation of some choral warm-ups that promote vocal health, and some fun vocal improv. The masterclass portion will be Saturday 9am-3pm, where everyone will get some individual coaching, in a super-supportive environment, and enjoy learning and watching each other learn! Then we will wrap up Sunday from 1-3pm with a showcase, where we’ll all get to show off what we’ve learned, and enjoy some refreshments. It’s a weekend not to be missed if you have ever sung a song or expect to ever have to sing a song–which means all of you

Folks from outside the community will pay $275 to attend this weekend. But you all (STOTS students, faculty, and families) may receive a student discount that brings it down to $75.

Remember, for just a few dollars more than the cost of a one-hour voice lesson, you can have 10 hours of an amazing experience developing and understanding your voice!

Kids over 10 who are interested are also MOST welcome! Register at the link above, and select the student tuition.

We do have limitations for attendance, so register VERY SOON if you want to come!

I hope to see you there!!
